Local firefighter training leads to a gorgeous new Drees home in Nashville, Tennessee

BRENTWOOD, TN – An ongoing partnership with local firefighters and the Design Gallery Homes by Drees team in Nashville, Tennessee recently led to one of the most impressive Build on Your Lot projects to date. This particular partnership involved the assistance of both the Brentwood and Franklin fire departments, who brought in 15 new recruits for training during the controlled burn of a home built in the 1970s on a 3/4-acre home site in Williamson County.

The General Manager of Design Gallery Homes by Drees explained, “For these types of projects, we have to get a demo permit through the City as normal, but we also have to remove the shingles, carpet, vinyl flooring, etc. Then the State comes in to evaluate for hazardous materials like asbestos. They ensure that the house is good to burn.”

To train the recruits, a small fire was set by stacking straw and pallets in a room. They let it get to a desirable stage of burning and then had the recruits put it out. They implemented this approach over and over for about four hours with six different rotations of firefighters.

The successful controlled burn left only block and bricks, and after a bit more deconstruction from our Design Gallery Homes team, the foundation was set for a new and exciting floor plan design that brings a more functional and modern style to this premier Nashville home site.

The cleared home site made way for the Rutledge floor plan, a newer offering from an award-winning lineup of one and two-story Drees designs in the Nashville division. The recently completed project aligns with a popular new trend of homeowners rebuilding their dream home on their already perfect piece of land. Surrounded by mature trees and a large front and back yard, the Rutledge boasts two luxurious levels, five bedrooms, a four-car garage and an expanded outdoor living space.
