For some time, Robert and Katy Madeja talked about moving and seeking something better suited for their family of five. They began to search the Liberty Hill area in Texas and stumbled upon Clearwater Ranch when meeting friends for dinner. While exploring this neighborhood, they learned of an upcoming phase of new homes, but quickly realized that the traditional timeframe to build there would not meet their needs.
However, they were delighted to discover that a Drees quick move-in home that checked all of their boxes would be completed in six months. After touring the Colinas II quick move-in home, the Madejas determined it was the perfect match for their three young children and rambunctious Goldendoodle. Robert noted, “Walking into this home, knowing that a designer had chosen every finishing touch, most of which aligned with the style that we prefer, was truly a win.” Katy added, “We can raise our kids here until they are grown and will even have room for guests! It’s honestly a dream to have this much space in such a beautiful hill country setting.”
We sat down with the couple to recap their Drees experience.
What attracted you to your floor plan?
We loved the Colinas II because of its two-story floor design that accommodates our family of five perfectly. We wanted an owner’s suite on the first floor along with a guest room and an office. This home also has the large playroom upstairs with the media room next to it. The laundry room sold us with its large amount of space and built-in shelves for backpacks, shoes, etc. It was absolutely perfect and exactly what we were looking for in a new home!
What have been your favorite spaces and features?
The laundry room and open-concept kitchen/living room are our favorites for sure! We also love the placement of the bedrooms and the front office with its big window.
What did you enjoy most about the building experience?
It was really special to be able to watch the progression of the home with our kids. We’d take special trips up there every weekend to see how things were going and we would dream about our new life in Liberty Hill! It was such a neat experience to teach our kids that the wait is worth it.
What advice would you give others who are interested in a brand new home?
Make sure to go with the right builder—do your homework first! Also, have realistic expectations on the timeline. Be patient with the people serving you, because often times, they cannot do anything about the delays and hiccups.
