Drumroll, please! Pantone’s 2022 Color of the Year is Very Peri, a periwinkle blue hue with violet red undertones. Pantone®, known as the global authority on color, recently released its Color of the Year.
Very Peri showcases a carefree confidence and a daring curiosity that animates the creative spirit, helping us embrace an altered landscape of possibilities, Pantone shared on its blog.
Color development

Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, said Very Peri is the product of collaboration; scientists and a team from the Color Institute created the shade – the first time ever Pantone has created a color for Color of the Year.
Pressman said developing Very Peri was a bold step that took a tremendous amount of work because it’s a complex color – a marriage of blue and red.
“With the world in transformation, they thought the best way to illustrate stepping into the unknown was to create this new color, this is a symbol of the transition we’re going for,” Pressman said.
The color is a reflection of newness, future and versatility. It exemplifies society re-imagining its future, people rewriting their lives and all of us being open to that vision.

Incorporating Very Peri at home

You can see Very Peri appear as a playful or even bold statement color throughout the home. Opportunities like a feature wall, a pop of color in tile work or even the incorporation of accent pieces go a long way in creating a lasting impression and projecting a regal feel.
