Tips for your tree
Award-winning Nashville-based decorator Mary Clingan with Mary Clingan Designs decked the halls of this Marabelle. Below are her top tricks for achieving this holiday look.

Incorporate organic elements
In this tree, she incorporated white-painted, dried hydrangeas tipped in gold to create dimension and fullness while also adding texture. Other organic elements she often likes to use include moss, pinecones, sponge mushrooms and grapevines.
Use round ornaments of all sizes
Mary suggests starting with strategic placement of the largest ornaments towards the center of the tree first and then working your way out with the medium to smaller ornaments.
Mix in painted branches
White, gold or silver branches work to add volume and dimension while extending the look and size of the tree. She said they also make great tree toppers. For a more organic look throughout the tree, she suggests positioning the branches slightly angled downward.
Intertwine wired ribbon
Explore different textures or ribbon like velvet, silk, burlap, sheer mesh and tapestry. Use different widths (up to three inches) and weave them throughout the tree.
Add an element of surprise
Incorporate something unexpected. In this case, Mary used black teardrop ornaments. The beautiful ornaments popped against home’s white walls, creating movement and adding an artistic flair to the tree. Other elements of surprise she likes to consider include butterflies, birds, nests, feathers and pampas grass.
Finishing touches of fresh greenery
Consider cedar, pine or even magnolia. In the home featured, Mary added fresh silver dollar eucalyptus. She also likes to use glittered curly Ting Ting to add sparkle.
