Hi there! Welcome to the “Ask Alexa” series. I’m Alexa Drees, the Design Center Director at Drees Homes, and I’m excited to bring you weekly tips, advice, and answers to your dilemmas to help make designing your dream home an easy and enjoyable process. Each week, I’ll be rolling out a new feature. (If you missed our first 23 videos, you can watch them here.)
This week, I’m excited to share a savvy way you can utilize a small space in order to bring wow power and value to your home design. At Drees, we continue to innovate, even in the most unexpected ways.
The Unexpected Execution
For example, take the space under a stairwell. Instead of dismissing it as dead space or storage in our Northern Kentucky 90th Anniversary Show Home, we decided to maximize its usage and created an eye-catching wine bar.
With a few cosmetic treatments like a sliding barn door and textured wall application as well as some savvy décor selections, we were able to add an attractive mini area bar area to the lower level rec room.
This is the first space that catches people’s eyes as they descend into the lower level. It makes a great first impression while also allowing for wine and party storage.
The efficient use of this small space is just one example of how we choose to push the limits in maximizing every inch in our 90th Anniversary Show Homes. For more information on the 90th Anniversary Home Show going through April 30, click here.
