Hi there! Welcome to the “Ask Alexa” series. I’m Alexa Drees, the Design Center Director at Drees Homes, and I’m excited to bring you weekly tips, advice, and answers to your dilemmas to help make designing your dream home an easy and enjoyable process. Each week, I’ll be rolling out a new feature. (If you missed our first nine videos, you can watch them here.)
Most recently, we discussed all of the features of a home that set the foundation for not only a beautiful holiday, but a meaningful one full of fond memories with family and friends. Today, we’re going to dig a little deeper into holiday traditions and talk about the beloved art of cooking and baking for the holidays as well as ideal setups for entertaining.
Setting a Kitchen Up for Holiday Success

When it comes to actually cooking and baking, you can’t find better kitchen layouts. Nearly all of our floor plans have a generous island, which is useful for both preparing and displaying food. We also offer a variety of updates for the gourmet cook, including cutting-edge appliances like the popular double-oven, under-cabinet lighting, a walk-in or working pantry, a butler’s pantry, a pot filler, and even off-shoot hearth rooms featuring wine bars.
The Ideal Floor Plan
At Drees, we love the art of entertaining, especially in the kitchen, and that shows in our designs. We think that is why people are drawn to our floor plans. Every Drees home is designed to have a specious floor plan that flows. The open plan is perfect for when your busy baking in the kitchen or hosting friends and family, because you never feel closed off from the fun.
Next week, join us as we turn our focus to hobby rooms, which are especially designed for the way you live. For the first look at our new segments, be sure to follow along on Facebook. We look forward to having you join us on this journey of design explorations!
All the best,
Alexa Drees
