Spring is notoriously tied to getting your home spic and span. Most of us are pretty familiar with how it goes- spring begins to approach, and in hopes of being perfectly organized, we make our list and create a plan to tackle “all the things”. Only to find that we’ve seriously underestimated the amount of chores to do and overestimated our available time and energy.
But, fear not! With these handy tips you’ll be able to keep a pretty light (yet consistent!) pick-up schedule, so you can kiss the hard labor of spring cleaning good-bye for good.
If you’re ready, let’s do this!
Stick with these daily cores and you’ll be patting yourself on the back by the time the weekend arrives.
Daily
- Unload/Load the dishwasher
- Wipe down kitchen counters and sink
- Empty the trash
- Make your bed
- Pick up clutter
The below list can either be considered and add-on, meaning choose one of the below to add-on to your daily routine (and alternate). Or, you can choose to do the below list all at once, on a Sunday for example.
Weekly/Add-On
- Vacuum thoroughly
- Mop floors
- Laundry
- Clean bathrooms
- Dust
- Change Bedding
- Wipe down door knobs/light fixtures
For your monthly to-do’s, it’s a great idea to choose a particular day in advance and put it on the calendar. This way, you can plan around it. Maybe you’ll choose the last Sunday of each month. Or maybe the first Saturday. It doesn’t matter, as long as you plan for it and get the job done.
Monthly
- Clean appliances, such as your stove and microwave
- Thoroughly wipe down your cabinets
- Clean baseboards, vents and grout
- Go through all clutter, miscellaneous mail (a.k.a. junk) and recycle
- Check for expired food
Now, doesn’t that feel manageable? Get started on this cleaning schedule now, and you’ll be relieved of any spring cleaning headaches.
